What kind of hen is this?

    She came in my ornamental collection from McMurray's almost 2 years ago. She is the only one Ive not been able to identify.

    I'm new....sigh.....so I don't know but she is beautiful...I have on order the black tailed buff japanese and their tail looks like hers...so they don't tell you what the surprise is?

    Not a redcap, redcap hens are solid brown.

    I would have to strongly disagree with that statement. Yes Spangled birds normally have lacing/spangled coloration that is clearly visible. But there are 2 factors to this bird...#1 it is hatchery stock so chances are it wont have perfect spangling pattern....#2 this bird appears to be molting. Im still saying Golden Spangled hamburg hen....why dont you email Mcmurray hatchery and ask them what they think. They would know.
