Someone gave me two pigeons today and i was wondering what kind and color they were. I only have a pic of the female right now. From my understanding they are fantail, but i saw on here that there were two types. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They have leg bands on them. Do you think they come from show stock?? The woman i got them from has never shown them or even had a clue on what they were for. What would i look for in a show quaility bird??

I don't know if you were to place high in a show then they would be worth more. If also depends on who your selling them to as some breeders will pay big buck for high quality birds. You should look at the market and book of standereds to have a good idea of the value of the birds.

the hen is a blue check the male is an ash red bar. All the hens will be red and all the cocks will be blue. All the young could be all checks or 50% checks and 50% bars. If the check came from two check parents you will only get checks.

Can you bathe them like you do silkies?? And the tails are a little rough. Will they get better when they molt??
