What kind of rooster is this?

What an interesting fellow. He definitely has an Orpington frame, but the coloration of a Marans. I almost wonder if someone has been crossing black or brown red orpingtons with black copper marans as a way to either enhance egg color, or try to develop a new orpington color.

I'm also thinking project bird. He's too fluffy for a Marans, but could be a cross trying to get a black copper Orpington.

I think he's a pretty bird either way! I am curious if his offspring will have darker colored eggs than if he is cross with copper marans?
