can I give my week old babies? I don't have any grit yet, all the pet store stuff has calcium in it . I'd like to start training them to not fear me and nothing works like food. Thanks!

Hard Boiled eggs are the best, in my opinion. I have given oatmeal right out of the box too. All in very small amounts. I am not sure about greens at an early age but my mama hen do take the babies to any green spot in the yard she can find. Look in the bird section you can usually find grit for caged birds it works ok.

slystr, Hard boiled eggs smashed up with your fork is ok and you won't need grit. NO egg shells, just the eggs, they will love them fo sure.
