I purchased some brown eggs from a local auction. They were sold as Black Australops and all were the correct color when hatched. However, recently I noticed that a few of them appear to have rose combs instead of single combs. What could they be?

    Hard to say.
Could be anything from a Black Wyandotte to a cross.
What color are the legs and the bottom of the feet?

They are supposed to be Standards and the eggs were normal size. I have other BA that I hatched from eggs and are now grown so I know the colors of the chick was right. They have dark legs too. It's dark outside right now but I think they might have had lighter colored toes. I'll have to double check in the morning and post a picture too.

Well, what do you think? This one doesn't show any comb at all. Wyandotte?

I'm no expert, but the eyes on that one make it look like my jersey giants! Course, they have single combs... it could be that you have mutts. I hope you weren't too set on getting australorps!

It is a wyandotte. You can tell because it has a rounded "butt".
