We have five baby chicks. I'm assuming they are Rode Island Reds. Maybe two weeks old? Four out of the five have long wing feathers and tail feathers. One has short wing feathers and no tail feathers. Does this mean he is a male?

If he is a male I'll have to get rid of him because we don't have a place to separate him from the females. We already have 6 adult females. :/

Just in case start looking around for a home - there is a glut of roosters on the market, and most of them will end up invited to dinner - as guest of honor.

Hi and welcome to BYC - great to have you onboard with us. I'd suggest waiting until he/ she is 6 weeks old and posting pics in the "what breed or gender is this?" forum but in the meantime enjoy them all!

    Best wishes
