Hi, I was gifted this Frizzie at Christmas as they feared he might be a Roo. He is now 7 months old, has never crowed, but he did try to jump on the barred hens back one day.

He is currently missing his feathers on his wings, but I'm hoping they will grow back in soon.
My barred rock Roo is not the least bit interested in him (I think he's a he)

    Thanks:)

He's a real sweetheart. Every morning when I open the coop he flys into my arms! I feel bad for him being the smallest one- he has to sleep by himself every night!

So next question. Purebred silkie or perhaps a silkie brahma cross?

Well, I'm going to make you happy when I tell you it has to be pure, because the Silkied Feathering gene (Hookless) will not show up unless both parents pass it down...and the chances of having a hidden silkied gene in your Brahma is pretty astronomical.

You can make your own Frizzled Silkies now!

Checked out your BYC and read some of your columns! Thank you! Glad to know Frizzie is a Roo and most likely purebred!

When do silkie roo's reach sexual maturity?

I would say he's a rooster. And where did he get that single comb?

Quote:X2 Unless it's a hatchery quality silkie, I'm guessing he isn't purebred? Beautiful, though [IMG]

He was transported from New Brunswick to Ontario at Christmas. The previous owner bred Silkies and Brahmas for many years, so he is not from a Hatchery.
