What should I be doing? Tips for a newbie

My girls are now 16 wks old. I have an Easter Egger, Black Australorp, & Barred Rock. I know that they will start laying at different times and it all depends on the pullet. Is there any tips for when they start laying or what I should start doing now? I had their nesting boxes blocked off so I have unblocked them and added some bedding. Should I add golf balls? How do I get them to know where to lay. I noticed that their combs and such have starting turning a brighter red. These are our first chickens ever so any tips are appreciated!!

Sounds like you are doing everything just fine. Now you just wait patiently for your first egg! Possibly pay attention to them to make sure they aren't having problems laying, and make sure they aren't laying somewhere other than the nesting box. Good luck!
