We have 5 barred rocks, and I just ordered 2 Ameraucana's...so 7 in all. Small or medium sized coop?
    Thanks!

Medium or maybe even a large if you don't trust yourself NOT to buy more! 3 sq ft is the minimum for chickens and extra space is always nice.

Thanks! I'm looking at all the different coops on this website....so so helpful. My husband is really good at building, so we will have fun with it. I'm thinking medium to large as well, now that I've read a bit about it.

I've got 5 silkies in a 10x10 kennel with plenty of room, I think a lot depends on how you set it up, I added perches and nest boxes and I believe I actually added to the available space they can use by adding these things.

    Go big....you won't regret it.
Build with a separate pen(created with temporary wire wall) with people door access....and a separate storage area.
Especially if you live in a cold climate.

    Good article about Space: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-much-room-do-chickens-need

I just built an 8 x 12 shed for our 8 chicks, plenty of room for more. It will have a separate run also. Your chickens will never complain if they have more room than they need. Build it once with extra space for new additions, it WILL happen!

I have 5 Chickens, 4 Easter Eggers and 1 Olive Egger F2. Their coop is 6'long x 6' wide x 5' high. Their coop is very space'ish seemly.
