What the heck is this?

Is this a fungus growing on my mystery gender golden comet? It is whitish.

I would say it’s Avian Pox. I’m not sure how to treat it though.

Looks like he just got pecked and maybe it’s a tiny bit infected, sort of like pimples. If I was you I would just wash it and put some hydrogen peroxide on it and then spray it a couple times a day with something like VetRx.I would think it would just heal and go away.

I don't think that's from pecking......looks like fowl pox.
I'd leave hands off until you are sure what it is.
Any other birds have it?

Fowl pox. My whole flock got it 2 summers ago when I was letting them free range. Nothing you can do for it. It goes away in about 3 months. They get it from song birds. Fairly common.

Doesn’t look serious, it’s not around its eyes are even on its wattles. I would just keep it clean.

Fowl pox is a virus spread by mosquitos.
'Keeping it clean' could actually introduce secondary bacterial infections.
Dry pox can just be left alone to clear up in a few weeks or months.
Wet pox is much more serious....read up on that.
