This came with a batch of what were supposed to be Coturnix. But I've been watching it grow up with the rest of the birds and it doesn't look a thing like the rest. The tail is completely different, it flies like crazy - I can barely catch it in the cage, and it squacks. Any ideas? Oh and the grey spot on his head is the loss of feathers from a few of the other quail picking on him...

Sorry for the lousy pictures, I was too lazy to pull out the camera and used my phone instead.

I think what you have there is a Partridge... have a pear tree for verification?

I am no expert... but is that a possibility?

Quote:LOL...I think any thing is possibly. I came home with 18 "coturnix" when they were 3 days old (found a bargain on Craigslist). Of those I have 3 that look dark colored, almost like Tibetans, and one white Coturnix and then whatever this thing is [IMG]

Quote:Awesome! You're right, it looks just like one! Which would make sense, since that's what it is [IMG]

So now that I know what it is...what do I do with it? It is getting picked on by the Coturnix quite mercilessly.

Defiantly a bobwhite male. I'm with Ryan on this not: Get him a girl friend or 2, and keep them in a pen of their very own.

Depending on where you are, you may need a game bird license for Bobs.
