We hatched shipped eggs this spring and got five lovely double silver laced barnevelders. But in that group we also ended up with a blue barnevelder rooster. They are about 9 weeks old now, and I'm thinking about how to group and house them going forward. We also ended up this spring with two blue laced red wyandottes (through a replacement for splash marans) we weren't planning on. And the two splash marans also joined the group a bit later. My plans for next year are to breed double silver laced barnevelders, olive egger F1 crosses and cream legbars.
Question... would I be likely to get anything interesting if I bred the blue barnevelder rooster with the blue wyandottes and splash marans? My breeding experience is just beginning, so please let me know if this is a bad idea for some reason. We like this rooster a lot for his personality so far. Thank you!
