We are currently using Bartlett Starter Grower Crumbles for our chicks. I asked to get some grit, but the lady at the feed store said that it had grit in it. Anyone know if that's a good food or if I need to add grit? When should we start adding grit and oyster shell as a supplement?

They don't need grit if you are feeding the chick crumbles. They only need grit once they are getting other foods like treats, etc.

They don't need the extra calcium of oyster shell until they are laying age - around 20 weeks or so.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your chicks!
