I was told she was a Black Rock, she is bigger than my 2yr old hens. She is not even laying yet.
Looks like a black jersey giant the best I can tell from the pics.
I would say Black Jersey Giant also.
How old is it? Where did it come from?
I would agree with Jersey Giant! But, are my eyes playing tricks on me or do those tail feathers look cockerelish?
Its not the trail feathers you need to be looking for---its the saddle feathers. This Is a black Jersey Giant Rooster.
@donrae she is 3mon. I bought her @ Atwoods @Thanksgiving. I bought her and 6 others @discount because they were older and the store was getting more chicks the next day. I bought her she was tagged as a pullet, the rest of the birds were 3 White Leghorn Roos, 1leghorn pullet, 1 RIR pullet.
Ahh, okay. I wasn't sure because her tail just looked a little curvy. Thanks!
Probably a Black Jersey Giant. As for gender, I agree that "she" does look cockerelish, but I'd need a clearer photo of the saddle area/tail to be sure.
I added a Jersey hen for those to compare that have not raised a lot of them. Post up above with rooster.
