Hi I'm new as off a few minuets ago and I have a question about my chickens. I have 13 red sex link hens I'm pretty sure and a brown and black silkie rooster I'm trying to incubate some eggs and if possible what would happen what should I expect. Any info is greatly appreciated. :/

I don't really understand your question, could you clarify?

If you need some help with incubation, you can check out this section of BYC. Lots of good articles on incubating, hatching and raising your new babies....

https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-and-raising-chicks

If you have any specific questions about your hatch that is not talked about there, you can post a question in the incubating and hatching eggs section...

Good luck with your hatch and enjoy BYC!

Sorry I am wondering if I can actually incubate them because they were laid by a red sex link hen that has a silkie rooster to fertilize them and if I can incubate them what would they possibly look like

I heard that red sex link chickens would not reproduce more sex link chicks if they were fertilized with a red sex link rooster but I have a silkie rooster so I guess I'm wondering if I'm wasting my eggs and time incubating them

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! If your rooster is doing his job, they should hatch, so if you just want some cross chicks no reason not to, there are quite a few threads on silkie mixes if you want to do a search, here is a nice thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/506832/silkie-cross-thread-pics They usually have small topknots and feathered feet... how good of layers they will be is anybody's guess, they should be better than the silkies but won't be nearly as good as the sex links, so if you are looking mostly for more for good layers you probably want another rooster...

Ok sounds good. What type of rooster would you recommend a barred rock or a Rhode Island Red something like that. I do want the eggs me and my son love collecting them and selling them. We'll at least the ones we can't eat anyway and. It fills his piggy bank pretty nice too lol

Oh I know that but I would like to incubate more egg layers to replace mine when they eventually stop laying or die. Plus I've had ppl wanting meat chickens and there own flock of egg chickens. So I would like to be the one who sells them the goods lol
