for a Black Chicken Hecate would be a great name.

Hecate (Heck-a-tay) is the name of a Goddess. the animal who represents her is a black hen. hence the mother goose rhyme Heckity-Peckity, my black hen [IMG]

I work in children's services and we gave the 3-5 year olds the task of naming our chicks...

    The list was as follows:

    Brewster
    Soup
    Cheepee
    Orlando
    Roostie
    Shoestar
    Griza

we ended up voting & have three chicks Soup, Orlando & Cheepee...

    We currently have:

Miss Chippy (may change; it doesn't suit her)
Fuzzy Wuzzy (as ridiculous as it is we aren't changing it; so far she's our lead hen)
    Chicken Little
    Lady Lucky (our gimpy one)
    Chickie
Unnamed (if we determine that she'll survive she may become Henny Penny or another children's book character)
