Ashlyn and Chicken
In the Brooder
A few weeks ago, we got some baby turkeys from a friend and added them with our baby chicks we were bringing home. All has been well. Yesterday we got more baby chicks and another turkey, all less than a week old. Today I noticed the new turkey wasn't moving much, or eating or drinking. Seperated him and started sugar water and tried yogurt mixed with egg. Turkey began gasping for air (?) as the day progressed and eventually died this evening. Before settling down for the night, I checked on our other chicks and turkeys. Noticed the other turkey was now gasping for air. Not as bad as the other.
I read on here the possibility of cedar chips being bad. So not knowing exactly what chips were in the bin, we dumped it all. I also started Apple cider today and have since dumped it as well.. Turkey seems to stopped gasping and put back in with the flock and went back to eating and drinking. Could it be the ACV and or the unknown, possibly cedar chips??
Any ideas??
