Whats my little Packing Peanut? *Updated Pics*

Doesn't look like a Cornish Cross to me...nor does it look like a White Leghorn or White Rock because it looks like it has a pea comb in the photos.

It is also coming in somewhat amber, which may drop out, but I think it has amber feathering highlights. So far it looks female (but 2 weeks is too early to tell).

If it is a single comb, and my eyes lie to me in the photo, you might have an Amber White which is a great hybrid layer.

Racking my brain for pea comb, amber/white, yellow, clean leg, but no beard/muff.

May just be a mix. Watch the comb...if it remains to look like a pea comb, my best guess it is an EE even though no beard/muff.

If that turns out to be a cushion comb, you might have a Chantecler, but those are not something generally used as a packing peanut as they are fairly rare, and the normal colors are white, partridge or buff....not amber.

What kind of order in what again? Did you get an rare freebie? Chantecler would fit that.

Supposed to be 10 EE pullets from Ideal. No rare freebie that I know of.

Ah, then that is what it is. An EE.

EE's have no breed standard as they are a hybrid (mutt mix essentially).

They merely should have Ameraucana or Araucana on one side and any other breed on the other. If the Ameraucana, which is usually used as it is far more common, is close enough, the chicks usually have willow (green) legs, beards, muffs and pea combs.

But if an EE was used as a parent, then the genetics become more diluted with the other parent and you can get chicks without the willow legs or beards or muffs and single combs. Even with Ameraucana blood close on one side, you can still get chicks without beard/muff or green legs (although the pea comb is usually dominant)..and yes, still called an EE.

So you got an extra EE as a packing peanut.

After seeing the new pic, and with the revelation of your EE order, I agree with LofMc. Your packing peanut is an extra Easter Egger.

I recounted them this morning and it turns out I got TWO extra EEs, plus the 5 BR packing peanuts.
