It seems like dried blood, at first I tried to gently pull it off but it started bleeding a little so I let it be, I thought it would heal by itself. He is healthy and active otherwise. Now it's gotten worse, the black spots got bigger and today I noticed a hen pecking at his comb and he screamed in pain. I've separated him for now and I don't know what to put on his comb to make it heal as fast as possible. If anyone has any advice I'd be so grateful!!

After you do the cleaning above (Tonyroo post) you can put a healing cream, like a bag-balm or something similar. They are bite marks from a fellow roo or chicken. Basically little scabs just like you would have if someone bit or scratched you, so same process, clean it up to prevent infection then apply healing cream once fully dry.

you cannot stop them fighting each other, they have a whole social structure. I try to let the little fights go, just stop them if it escalates.

*hugs*
