What's our gender?

    So we have 2 mixed breed barred rocks. Their dad is a purebred barred and we're not sure which hens are their moms. They are 2 weeks old. Do the rules for sexing barred rocks still apply? Here are some pics of the chicks in question...

    With the BR being the father I believe you will have a mix match of Barred offspring. Rules don’t apply. You will just have to wait it out unfortunately. Look for red enlarged combs before 10 weeks of age.

    Agree with AlleysChicks. I wanted to add that that is one gorgeous barred rock. Definitely worthy of a breeding project.

    Thank you! Yes, we think he is a handsome boy. We got him from a breeder. He's the first roo we've had and he is a great. He does his job which is funny because he's a bantam and our hens are LF, lol. He has an awesome temperament too. Never mean to us, my kids, our dogs, but keeps his girls safe. We love him. :love
