What's the next step up from a chicken? I'm looking for a bird thats a little bigger. Maybe a Turkey?

What breed would be good for me?

    Thanks!

That would all depend on what you have room for.

What are you really looking for? A pet? Yard ornament? Something useful?

My first thought was strangely emu as well.... [IMG] I have no experience with breeding though, so don't mind me too much. [IMG]

You should really research all the different species you'd like to get, and let that research be your guide. I wanted emus really badly, but after doing some reading....a 6' fence around my property is not something I want to put up. I looked into peafowl too and they were a better choice for my situation. I already had a flight cage that fit them nicely. I got some this year and I LOVE them.

This site has tons of information by some very knowledgeable people on everything you could possibly want to keep. I think I read every thread in the peafowl section.....Didn't get far into the emu section....the 6' fence stopped me in my tracks.

Winner winner....that the one....guess what they eat about the same amout as a chicken, now turkey will eat 2 x as much.

here something to make you think about.
