I want to start by saying THANK YOU! to everyone that was so supportive. I love this site and really have enjoyed talking with everyone.[IMG]

    BLACK SATURDAY -

We culled 4 hens on Saturday. We had 2 hens die, 2 were separated from the flock and 1 came down with the same symptoms on Saturday. After spending the whole week researching, calling local vets and then contacting the local vet school in our state capital...I came up with nothing. We decided to spare the sick to save the flock.[IMG]
So far we don't have anymore showing any signs of this...thing.[IMG]

    SOAP BOX -

I am greatly saddened by the lack of exact information on chickens. I am even more saddened at the laughter I encountered by the local vets in my area when asked if they handled avion care. I am surrounded with Perdu Chicken farms! But so is the life of a chicken raiser/lover. Treatment is sometimes what's best for those who aren't sick.[IMG]

    LOVE -

I have fallen (with much surprise. this was my husban's project) in love with these birds. I can relate so much to what everyone has posted here!

I'm very suprise myself and the lack of knowledge of poultry at the vet. However I live in North Carolina and we have this GOVERNMENT fundedb][/b] program that has a gentlemen that will answer all your ?'s and will do house calls if he really have to.

So sorry to hear you had to cull your birds...but we do what we have to I guess. Also sorry to hear that you were laughed at. We do have ONE vet that will gladly see chickens, but that's it. And as for LOVE, as you will see in my tag line below....my husband has taken over MY HOBBY! He thought I had lost my mind when I said I wanted chickens. We don't even have a dog! ROCK ON chicken lover! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
