I'm a new proud turkey owner. They are SO NEAT! I want to make sure I am taking the best possible care that I can [IMG]

Since turkeys need more protein than chickens, what brands of food do you all use?
My husband picked up a big bag of Purina "Flock Raiser" which has a turkey on the bag, but I'm not sure it is the best.

Here are photos of my little turkey flock just so this post isn't boring [IMG]
Thanks in advance for any info!

My personal favorite is DuMour Grower/Finisher.

What kinds of turkeys do you have?

Purina Game Bird line (Starter/Flight Conditioner/Layena/Maintenance). The Starter is very good (30% protein). Haven't had a problem with poult growth/
health in the 8 yrs they've been hatching out (have had the turks for 9 yrs). When the adults are `exploding' (heavy molt - right now!) I'll add a cup of the Starter into the usual Flight Conditioner (never have bothered with layena/maint. - add the additonal oyster shell to see how much the hens are using).

    Nice turks!

    Thanks guys!

The bag of Purina I have is this:
    http://poultry.purinamills.com/OURPRODUCTS/Products/FlockRaiser/default.aspx

It doesn't say Flight Conditioner, which I know the wonderful man I got the older birds from says he was feeding. Is it still okay? Or should I get something better?
I already have a big bag of layer food my chickens are eating. So this is just for the turkeys.
Honestly I have not been able to find Starter or Grower/Finisher at the stores near me. Maybe it's time to order online. Anyone have a site they recommend?

Turkenstien25, I have a big Spanish Black tom, a Bronze hen, and a younger pair of Royal Palms. The littlest one is a hen about 2 months old. The biggest was hatched in April, so over 4 months.
Looking at the size difference makes me impressed by how fast these birds must grow- so they must need the best food to be healthy!

Flockraiser's fine for the turks over three months old. Any younger can be augmented with crushed hard boiled eggs/meal worms/any kind of moth.. Our 2011 hatch coincided with the flush of periodic cicadas (those poults were our `cicada cohort') the adults ate so many that they pretty much tired of them, the poults just kept wolfing them down (used a third less Starter than usual for that number of poults).
