Finally my spring babies are laying! So dissapointed to actually see my wheaten colored americauna lay a light brown pullet egg. I thought all my Americaunas would lay colored eggs. What happened? I bought the chicks from Cackle hatchery in mid June 09.

Cackle sells easter eggers, so you never know what color eggs you will get.

Cackle doesn't sell true Wheaten Ameraucanas, as Jean said. They may sell Easter Eggers with similar colors to wheaten. That is why she is laying a brown egg.

There's no real need for me to echo what the three others have said. You can take that to the bank. So I'll just say your post is entitled "Americauna". You may want to do a search on here for "Ameraucana" and see the difference. As Jean so often says, "There is no 'i' in Ameraucana."

    God Bless,
