I just bought a "Wheaten Americauna" and she's consistently laid brown eggs. I'm not too familiar with this breed so I'm wondering if there's another chicken out there that looks like a Wheaten but isn't? She's got the "cheeks" like my other Americaunas but I've never seen brown eggs from one. She's not nearly as flighty as my others either. Anyone have any ideas?

Your "Ameraucana" is actually an Easter Egger. This means that she has some Ameraucana ancestry, but isn't pure. Most Easter Eggers lay colored eggs (green, blue, pink), but some will lay just plain brown eggs.

X 2 -- unfortunately your wheaten ameraucana is anything but.

Thanks for the info! I traded eggs for her so I'm not out any money and I only wanted her as a layer anyhow so it's no loss.
