Most of my wheaten marans have been straight forward with buff/white chest feathers or obvious dark/blk feathers. What gender pattern is this??…. Splash or blue wheaten…… it’s like black fleck on caramel??

Thank you, 🌸 3 weeks today. 🐣

I lost a part on my last post not sure where it went! I said something like -

I've found 4 weeks had been the prime time for most of our chicks to tell us if they boy or girl. The ones we have right now aren't playing the game but yours hopefully will so give it a few more days (though I totally understand how hard it is to wait!)

How many chicks do you have? The more of the same breed the easier it is. We've had 2 types of Marans hybrids, one the boys combs and wattles popped up overnight at 4 weeks and the other had a fairly large comb that had it been red I would have said boy but I wasn't certain she was female until it didn't grow any more and stayed pale.

That’s good to know About 4 weeks! 😊 The last hatch I had was two wheaten marans and one wheaten ameraucana. It was obvious my marans were male at 2 weeks, the ameraucana is pullet. We have 6 ameraucana pullets ( 3 pure [1 wheaten, 2 self-blue], 3 chocolate project [technically EE] ) that are 6+ weeks old. We have 4 chicks we are currently figuring out what sex they are and that’s 3 wheaten marans (definitely 2 pullets just waiting on this last perty to show fully) and one black copper marans. I have 3 more pullets I ordered 2 marans, 1 barnevelder…….and that will round out our LF pullets. We also have a Bantam pen with 11 bantams that recently started laying the cutest eggs 🤣

Oh I'm so envious! I wish I had the space for of of those 😍
