When can chicks play outside?

It's currently about 57° here, is it too chilly to let my 1.5-2 week old chicks play in the grass for a bit?

They're not too young but they need a heat source that they can run to as and when they need it. That need is a personal thing to each individual chick so you can't say 5 minutes is enough, or 10 minutes or whatever as one chick may be fine with a given time, and another not so. They also need to remain dry....you said grass but if it is dew laden or wet from rain, they will get wet and chill very quickly so you'd need to monitor that closely. They are certainly too young to be left out for any length of time or unsupervised xx

I would say don't leave them outside for more that 15 minutes but I like to let my chicks play out side for about 5-10 minutes ( they love it) and keep a good eye on them!

Thanks for the quick replies! Just wanted to let them scratch around for 5 or 10 min. The weather is supposed to turn colder for the next week and a half and this is our last nice day!
