I have 3 baby chicks that hatched on May 11. Where i live it's usually hot by now. But this year it's just starting to get warm! I had wanted them out of the bathtub by now! What tempature does it need to be before i can take them outside for at least a few minutes?

Just to put your mind at ease regarding chick heat needs, which are greatly exaggerated, my chicks were racing around on the first day after they hatched exploring their outdoor world in 70F temps, only occasionally ducking under their heat pad cave heat source.

The same chicks, night before last at age two weeks, survived a 45F night with no heat when their half wit chick mom forgot to hit the auto shut off over-ride on their heating pad when she turned it on that evening after they had not used the heating pad all day.

Chicks don't need as much heat as you think, and then only occasionally, not constantly.
