These behemoths are about seven weeks old, when can they go outside with their heat lamp?
Ide say that pekin is mabye 3 weeks old
He's three pounds, that was a horrible picture.
Now...Rediculous to keep Ducks in they need to strengthen legs. Now is a perfect time..that Brooder is way too small plus I can imagine the smell..
@Lulubelle96 what part the country are you in. You mentioned heat they still look pretty young to not have heat if your temps are still cool just set it up on one end of their coop (attached really secure) so they can get under or not.
I'm in Louisiana and it's been raining lately and brought in a cold-ish front. It's about 65 today but will be warmer by easter. Its just a double measure to make sure they don't get too cold with the ac on in my house and so if its cooler at night outside one night they won't get hurt.
If you're putting the heat lamp out with them, then they can go out now.
As long as their coop isn't drafty they should be fine. Be sure to secure your heat lamp very good.
If your'e in LA you are good to go!
I was shocked that my 6 week old kahki spent the whole day in the snow and never got cold but they are pretty tough arent they? Aslong as you watch for any sighns of chills
I had a heatlamp in the coop at night
