I figured with myself and friends being curious about when chickens start to lay I would start a thread about it. Please post what breed of chicken u have, when she started to lay (#of weeks), and how many eggs each week u get from her (approximately). Or really any other egg laying common question.

My Columbian Wyandotte and Silver Laced Wyandotte started laying at nineteen weeks old. The Columbian lays about 6 eggs a week in the summer, and 3-4 eggs a week in the winter. The Silver-Laced Wyandotte lays about 5 days a week in the summer, and 3-4 eggs a week in the winter.

I also have an Easter Egger, who started laying at 20.5 weeks of age.She lays about as well as my Columbian Wyandotte.

Lastly, my Rhode Island Red started laying at 23 weeks old. She lays 6 eggs a week in the summer, and about 4 eggs a week in the winter.

In my chickens' first year of laying, my Columbian Wyandotte laid 299 eggs, my Silver-Laced Wyandotte laid about 223, my Easter Egger laid about 255 eggs, and my Rhode Island Red laid around 260.
