When do chicks start eating?

They can survive without food or water for about 48 hours. I must say, though, I provide food and chick starter almost as soon as they are fluffed up and they are nearly always hungry,

me too especially for broody moms-chicks hatch and they keep sitting to keep hatching so it may bew afew days before she actually gives up on the eggs that dont hatch-I dunk their beaks in water and food and leave them with momma-I watch them scurry out from under her take a sip of water and grab a morsal of food and run back to snuggle! cutest dang thing ever!

That does sound cute and I will do the beak dip thang in the morning.

Interestingly another hen sat on the remaining eggs from day two and the original brood hen seems to have forgotten them entirely!
