**When do silkie chicks come off heat ???

    hey, can enyone tell me when silkie chicks can come off heat ?
    mine are 5 weeks old Thanks

    Well, it all depends on weather---mine come off heat around 8 weeks. Now if it's cooler at night, I turn a heat lamp on them for about 3 weeks more, but that's it. [​IMG]

    Same an anyother chicken, when they are fully feathered usually around 7 weeks. You reduce the temp 5 degrees each week so they only need to be kept at 65 now. If your nights are warm still they should be ok but I always leave the light at night till they are around 8 weeks.
