My cockerel is 7-9 weeks old and I'm wondering when he'll start to crow? I hope he won't need voice lessons or anything like that. LOL

I have had bantam roosters start trying as early as 3 weeks old.

For me it has always been that the larger they are the later they start crowing.

You did not list the breed. This would be good to know.

My SLW rooster started crowing at about 15 weeks. He was rehomed at about 18 weeks.

I have a Easter Egger who turned 7 weeks on Monday and he started to crow today. I thought he was choking at first. But nope he was crowing I was able to video tape it. It is the funniest/most pathetic/ cutest thing.

I think in 3 to 7 weeks they will crow, it also depends on their food what are they eating by the way?

I have a 15 wk old GLW that is not crowing yet. I'm hoping he doesn't.. I'll have to rehome him when he does.

    When they want to.

My welsummer cockeral started crowing at 4 days old. I have a BR rooster who is 7 weeks old and I think he's starting to try out his voice. I have another BR rooster who is not attempting to crow, he's very timid.

My Americana is 5 months old and still no crowing. I noticed he was straining with his mouth open as if to crow but nothing. I decided maybe he needed to be taught. I sat up and crowed like a roo. All the girls and the roo froze in their tracks and just stared at me. I did it a few more times and still nothing. I figure my neighbors might have heard me and figured I had flipped so I decided to let nature teach him how to crow. [IMG]
