We are new chicken owners. Our Cochin went broody and successfully hatched 4 chicks. She is still sitting on 7 I hatched eggs. It's day 23 approximately. How can we tell if any more are going to hatch? We chose to house the chicks in another space. Can we reintroduce the mama to them or is it too late? The chicks are 3-4 days old.

You can try to put them in her nest.

It's probably too late; you can try to have them next to her and see how she responds to them. It's too bad that you took them away from their mama! Mary

We were worried the other chickens would attack the chicks. Also, she's super little and it's cold here. We didn't want any chicks dying of cold. We did introduce her to the chicks today and will try again tomorrow. Any ideas about when to call it a day on the eggs she is sitting on?

You can hold them up to your ear tap on them. Listen for chirps. Good luck
