How do you know where the air cell is unless you're candling them right before--that is if you're laying them on their side?

I kinda figured I would candle them one last time as I was removing them from the turner and putting them on their sides. Do you think this sounds ok? I t kinda made sense to me to put the aircell on top . . . but then it wasn't based on anything so I thought I would ask.
