At what age Should I expect my silkie roos to crow? and my Silkie hens to lay?
lol yeah I need an silkiexpert...LOL
Well, I'm not really an expert.
You're not going to like the answer... but it is... it varies.
I find my roos start to crow at about 4-5 months old, but have had some start as early as 3 months, and las late as.. 8 months. As for laying, mine usually start around 6 months, but can be as late as 8 months, with my early starter being 5 months.
It will depend on their strains and individual bird so it's a big range of what it could be. It's always a waiting game with chickens!
thanks so much for the reply silkiechicken. I have some young chicks between the ages of 11 weeks and 4 months. Havent had any growing yet..LOL
Since winter is on its way My young hens will they wait till spring before layin or may I catch a egg from them this winter. Wont be adding nothing special to the coop to make them lay just letting nature go to work.
