When should these chickens start laying

    The black chickens are black australorps and the white ones and white leghorn chickens. when should they start laying?

    Hens normally begin to lay eggs around 6-8 months of age. And if one isn't laying for a while don't worry some hens need more time or its stressed.

    With all respect to the poster above, 5-6 months is probably more on the mark of when most begin laying.

    I've been reading posts on here about chickens starting as early as 16wks. One of mine started at 17.5. Layer feed can be started anywhere from 18 to 20 weeks, that is the typical age chickens start to lay but that does not mean they can't wait much longer than that.

    Mine started around 19weeks, but I had a few that went as late as 22 weeks. Hope this helps!
