My Australorpe has just started to lay- she laid an egg Fri, Sat, no egg Sunday, one today- I caught her in the act on the nestbox so I know it is her!

So.. I've heard Aussies lay almost everyday..
When they start do they skip more days? Does it get more regular over time?

... and since one is laying, I'm hoping my other 5 will figure it out soon.

When our australorp first started laying, it was very erratic. She became an every day layer about the second week. One of my best layers now. When the ladies quit for the winter, she was the first to start back up.

Starting out probably about 5-6 eggs per week. Maybe 7 occasionally. Should keep it up through this summer if all goes well.

Congrats, and the others should be starting soon

The black astrolorps are excellent layers! It takes them a bit of time to get "into the groove" of laying, so it's totally normal for the egglaying to be irregular at first. Just give her a bit of time, and she'll be laying like clockwork.
