i have eight 2.5 year old hens. i have twelve 5 month old pullets and one rooster.
i read suggestions to transfer after they have gone to roost.
they have been 12 ft away seperated by coops since they were born.

we just transfered the chix into the big coop with the older girls.
any suggestions for in the morning when they wake?

    thanks in advance for help!

There's probably going to be some fighting. I let mine free-range together. They way, they can get away from the older girls.

    Good luck on them!

My 4 month olds have been with my year olds for almost 2 months now. They don't sleep in the same coop but they spend the day together in the run and then when I let them out to free range. I now find them in the adult coop checking it out and all mingled together. I would say night is better but maybe some supervised time together. Just make sure there either enough room or something to hide behind if they need it. Good Luck!

yep it is still a process for my 2 little flocks to meld together. Takes time, patients. The night thing works well. Open up in the dark put them in there and they wake up and say. When did you get here. Hi I'm Flo. this is Helen and Marg! LOL
