Most hatcheries list when different chick breeds are available. We purchased our flock from McMurray and they have a complete listing of available birds on their website.

Last year we ordered chicks for March delivery, but had to postpone due to a family emergency. We ordered 25 different heritage standard breed pullets. The people at McMurray helped us pick a date when all the breeds we wanted would be available.

So we got our chicks in June, they were feathered and in the barn by August and started laying in November.

This past winter has been so bad, I'm thinking June sounds like perfect weather for chicks arriving safely. [IMG]
