A lot depends on the chicken herself. Not all go broody. I do not have bantams but have "broody breeds" and it seems out of 5, 2 are the broodys in each breed (BO's, Jerseys and Australorps) What I do to 'encourage" them is to leave fake eggs or golf balls in one or two of the nest. I have a Molted Java that only needs to see a nest with 8 eggs and bam she goes broody. I just had my first broody of the year, the Jersey Giant, hatch out six chicks.

A nice dark corner, a nest full of eggs and then just wait and watch
