I have 6 hens and one rooster in my flock. At least one, maybe two hens in my flock have started laying. They are 4 1/2 months old. One is a RIR and the others are ISA browns.

pullets start to lay around 16-24 weeks old, and just because some are the same breed it doesn't mean that they will start laying at the same time.

I think some of it depends on the breed. Mine just started laying 9/3/16 and they were about 24 weeks old.

Laying at 18 weeks is about on schedule but it might take another month or more for the rest to start.
