Hey there! I was browsing a bit and I still havent come across a thread for SLW...perhaps I overlooked it? Does anyone knowoff the top of their head if there is a thread in here just for SLW? I am very eager to hear about some peoples experiences with this breed. thanks!

I have some in my layer pen. I used to breed them, but just had hatchery stock. Show stock is kind of hard to come by this past year. The straight combs that show up in the breed didn't suit me. Other than that, they are a hardy breed for up north.

Seems like there might have been a thread at some point in time, but I don't remember for sure. I finally have some nice ones (not hatchery) and am working to start building my flock of them up. I've had a few hatchery ones in years past, but these are much nicer in temprement, lacing and body type.

Here are some of mine.

Ah, Katy, you do it on purpose, don't you? Taunt me with your beautiful birds when I have a full bator....

ooooh! whats in the bator? little slw?

Silkies and my own funny little mutts in one bator, Orps in the other. I've had a run of rotten hatches, so I am praying for better luck with these.

THANK YOU!! All positive thoughts very welcome.... my poor DH just lost his beloved cat, so some new chicks will hopefully lift his mood! Some of mine are SLW based, but theyre hatchery quality birds, crossed with my Blue Orp roo. Should make for an interesting cross, I thought! I can't wait to get some of Katy's amazing SLWs, the lacing on them is so superior to the hatchery birds, it's untrue.
