I would like to try the "Deep Litter Method" of care which recommends layering food grade DE over a layer of pine shavings. Where can you buy food grade DE? and also can you eat the eggs when you use DE?

you can eat the eggs, and I found some at a feed / garden center in my town. It has food grade DE and red clay earth, which both are good for chickens, but you can also order it on line just google food grade DE.

DO a search here for this topic, you will find a ton of threads discussing how it works and where you can look to find it.

I know most the feed stores around here carry it, and it's also easy to find online.

I found it at my local Lowes in the Organic gardening section.
