Where Did The Easter Egger Come From?

    Hi , everyone

    Does anyone know what pure bred chickens create the Easter Egger?

    No purebred birds created the Easter egger, it's the other way around. Folks took blue egg laying chickens and bred them to a standard and specific colors, and then made them a breed.

    It just depends on what type of EE you want.
    One parent should be either an Ameraucana, Araucana or Cream Legbar (these are blue egg layers) and the other parent can be anything at all, but for the classic green eggs you want a tan/brown egg layer (orpington, australorp, JG, RIR, etc.).
    Most EE's have Ameraucana as a parent for the beards and muffs.
