WHere did the Lavender Orp and/or Lavender EE come from Breeding wise.Color linage.

    2 questions i dont see answers too..please direct me. or answer.

    What genetic make up brought the Lavender EE into being?
    Is it a Lavender Orp crossed with a white EE?

    What genetic crosses made the Lavender Orp.?
    Black x white?
    If i have the orginal backgrounds i feel i can get a better grip on what can be done crossing these chickens by what has been done

    I love this lavender blue color

    .Are there Lavender Brahmas?I have heard blue not Lavender

    lavender requires that the lav gene be bred in. Typically one will cross a black bird to the breed where the gene exists and the type is as near as possible to the standard of the breed you are working on. I cannot speak to the specifics of orpingtons or ameraucanas, (don't know of anyone trying to purify EE varieties), but there are threads for each of these where you can ask.

    Thank you so much for your answer That is good to know but i was hoping to find the origin of the Lavender before there were any.
    Who crossed what to who? who was the first to come up with a lavender Orp ? A lavender EE and how.?

    As I suggested, ask on the lavender orp and lavender americana threads for those specific breeds. If you want to know when lavender was first found in any breed, ask at The-Coop. Someone is bound to know.

    Just what i wanted ...but sadly it is being debated yet!!! DEuccle or quail or ?????
    Wel lDNA will sort it out one day.
    Do wish i had seen a date that debate was going on though Some time after 2009 anyway as one Professors sign up then,.
    Things may have progress by now but at least i get an idea
