One of my roughly 17 month old Buff Orpington hens was sitting on 6 eggs. We left her undisturbed (i.e., we did not pick her up every day), in her own coop with easy access to food and water. We saw a peep this morning and checked for others. The other five eggs have completely disappeared - no peeps, no remnant egg shells! What happened? The chickens are guarded by Anatolian Shepherds and I have not seen any snakes. I am with or near the chickens several times a day. I have never seen a rat here.

Or maybe they were duds and pushed them out of the nest herself? Then something else cleaned up the egg before you saw it out? I make sure to check the eggs under my hen at least a couple times a week. At 7 days I candle for good and bad ones, and take out the bad. Sorry you had some disappear! Good luck with your new single chick! :)
