This is probably going to take the cake for dumbest question ever posted LOL, but where do you guys keep your brooder? I assumed most people keep them in the house or garage? But now I'm having this momentary panic of...wait, are we crazy for keeping poultry indoors?!?!

Ah, okay. I feel much better. I read a post about mites a bit ago and then complete paranoia took over as did the phantom itching.

I have mine (they just arrived this morning)in a brooder box in my barn. Tonight I will cover it with a tarp so it will be warm; I do have a light inside.

Good Luck

Ours were in the laundry room for almost 3 weeks. That's a week too long for me. Our weather has been bad since a few days after the chicks hatched so they haven't made it into the coop yet. They are in a garage and doing just fine. They do smell bad. The weather is so bad that I don't even want to take them out of the brooder to clean it and they are 4 weeks old  If you have them inside you need to be vigilant about keeping the brooder clean or your house will smell bad. I went to someone's house and they had older chicks in the basement... umm... it was bad but these people didn't clean up after the chicks and they had 100 of them.
