I recently started giving my girls a check up one a month to check how they are doing. I am wondering where their abdomen is, is it the part directly under the vent?

Good that you're checking regularly....along with Bug Checks?
You'll get to know what looks/feels right and what might be a problem(especially if there are other symptoms).
Yes I am also doing bug checks. The girls take Dust bathes regularly so I don’t worry much about lice or mites. I’m always looking out for worms though since the girls free range.

Most worm evidence can only be seen thru a microscope.
Only round worms and tapeworms can be seen with the naked eye in the poops.
I believe I heard that the only way to know for sure if a chicken has worms is through a fecal float test which I believe is done by a vet, but I am unable to see one around here so I need to look for signs such as weight loss myself.

Oh yeah, talking about worms reminded me, I found this yellowish urate on a dropping today. It was from overnight. Is this one of the signs of worms?
