Where is the Stopping Point?

I'm with Katy. It ends when you have to start choosing who to feed first. Humans come first.

I should qualify that- for years we were doing quite well financially and could afford it. Then I got laid off, DH got laid off and "HELLO" I sold off some birds! Didn't like doing it, but sometimes you have to make the hard choices.

Now, the required hard and sober cautionary has been issued........ it doesn't end as long as you can feed everybody!

Have fun, Cochins are pretty nice as chickens go!

I wouldn't know. I haven't found one yet.

We started with 6 day olds from the hatchery two years ago. Bought two more last year. Hatched 6 silkie eggs also last year and now the silkies have had 4 of their own.

That's 18 if you're counting.

Well, I just went to TSC and I didn't come home with anything, I am so proud of myself! haha and they did have a 6 min limit and well only 15 chicks total and one had poopy butt. I think my sister-in-law and me are going to get some from the hatchery in Nashville on the 31st!

So, as long as we can feed everyone, there is never an end, I am so glad to hear that!

haha Well my sister-in-law didn't help! She was with me, I think she has officially moved in with us, but she is my best friend so that its ok. She kept picking up one Bantam chick (super cute, red colored chick) and kept saying Kevin wouldn't mind haha so much for trying to hold me back. But, I think I can wait for the chicks I really want!

Exactly.

...however, I do go through "slow down" periods, I've discovered. Not on purpose. It just happens. Immediately followed by a flurry of setting eggs again because the youngest babies in the brooders are already two weeks old!
